The Parish of the Holy Sacrifice, led by the Youth Ministry, held a send-off Mass and youth fellowship event last July 22 to bless and bid farewell to its six delegates who are all set to represent the parish and the Diocese of Cubao at the World Youth Day* in Lisbon, Portugal that will take place from August 1 to 6, 2023. The delegates of the parish are Rev. Fr. Jomari Joseph L. Aragones, Bro. John Mary Francis M. Nuqui, Nathania Marie B. Lumbre, Kathleen Anne R. Mendoza, Marie Gabrielle M. De Luna, and Trishia Rosette S. Gaddi—all youth servants of our community who have demonstrated unwavering dedication to their faith and service to the church.

The send-off Mass brought the community to pray together as one for the success of the World Youth Day and for the safety of all Filipino delegates who will be joining millions of Catholic youth across the world in this event. The Holy Mass was followed by a lively youth fellowship with our Parochial Vicar, Fr. Jomari Aragones. The atmosphere was filled with youthful energy as participants joined in the getting-to-know activities, musical and dance performances, and sharing about the upcoming World Youth Day 2023.

Our delegates have prepared themselves for what lies ahead and the parish community stands united in fervent prayer with hope-filled hearts that the success of these delegates will serve as a catalyst for a future that is both brighter and spiritually-enriching for the community.

Alongside our World Youth Day Delegates, the parish is inviting everyone to join the delegates in prayer and celebration through the upcoming Local World Youth Day activities in the parish and the Diocese, such as the Parish Local World Youth Day celebration on August 5 and the Local World Youth Day celebration of the Diocese of Cubao on August 6.

Together, let us continue to pray for our delegates as they embark on a fruitful journey of drawing closer to Jesus.

*The World Youth Day is a gathering of young people from all over the world with the Holy Father, the Pope, and held by the Church every three years. The aim of the gathering is to evangelize the youth and foster a personal encounter with Jesus Christ, with this year’s theme being “Mary arose and went with haste” from Luke 1:39. The motto emphasizes the importance of saying “yes” to God and being active in the mission of evangelization. This youth event also seeks to promote peace, unity, and fraternity among different peoples and nations.
